Hey, Soren!

Happy Friday! Guess who got into the front yard back home today during Supervised Outdoor Time. That’s right, it’s the world’s dumbest baby boy, Achilles. Supervised Outdoor Time will now feature double the supervision. Achilles couldn’t survive out there, he’s like two minutes old.

This week’s been pretty nice. On Wednesday, I went to a nearby town to go shopping with a friend. I got lots of candy for Mom and this cute early-20th century thing in a vintage shop:

Most of the things there were post-1950. As a Victorian-Edwardian enthusiast, I felt like I struck gold. Also only two British pounds! What is talcum powder? It doesn’t matter.

Also found some Arizona ice tea in fun flavors. May return sometime to stockpile. Also, tried on a very British hate like the royals wear. It was only 80 pounds but my friend was freaking out about security watching us — proof that they like hats here much more than we do. The next day I walked around town with a different friend looking through thrift shops and got a cute leather bag. It’s the same color as my bigger leather bag.

Yesterday, I saw the new Wes Anderson movie with a different different friend. The theater was so fancy. They had a menu and brought you your stuff during the trailers. I got popcorn and cookies with ice cream — felt decadent. Wes delivered well per usual. I don’t know if your memory is as foggy as mine, generally, but Moonrise Kingdom was my favorite movie pre-trauma. Wistful sigh…

Also, a few days ago there was a Classics department event where they loosely recreated the Athenian symposium (rich man drinking party) where it was 1/3rd PowerPoint, 1/3rd ancient instrument performance, and 1/3rd historically-accurate party games. And they kept feeding us Greek snacks. It was nice. Afterwards I met this cat outside, who was friendly but more interested in climbing up some building materials than me:

The English have lots of outdoor cats. I worry, but I don’t speak about it.

So yeah, this week was quite nice. How’s yours been? I just can’t wait to get home, personally. Sit with the cats and revel in post-exam relaxation. Soon… it’s my birthday Wednesday, I’ll write to you then. Can you believe I’m so old as twenty? That’s more years than it feels like. I love you.

With love,

Alice

Jessica

I was married to a woman for a decade. In 2015, she suddenly abandoned our eldest daughter and withheld our youngest. Soren has been taken from her primary home, mom, sister, and everyone on our side of her family since she was 10. Our purpose is manyfold: we want you to know Soren's story, advacate for Soren in Eugene, OR, champion LGBTQ families to help stop abuse, and help ensure no child lives with: psychological abuse, withholding, abandonment, alienation, or parental kidnap again. These are sides of the same coin.

Happy June! With tests over, I have done next to nothing for the past week but sleep. So monumentally glad that’s over and done with. How are you doing? The new chapters of a game I like called Deltarune (Undertale’s sequel if you’ve heard of it) came out Wednesday and I spent the past 48…

I have crawled out of my next test. Greek historiography. I think I did okay enough — not as good as history, with less time to study, but enough. Big points. References to historians. It was shorter which was helpful but also unhelpful since I had less time to word-vomit my memorized facts. My normal…

It’s midnight. I’m very sorry. My history test was today. I thought nothing of it the entire week. It was 3 1/2 hours long. I think I did alright. I came out feeling so tired. I shall have another next Friday — and I will likely be in a similar state as well. Afterwards I…
