I’m writing a little late since we spent the day with Marcia and Emily. They’re doing alright: Emily just started college and seems to be settling in alright. We went shopping for a bit and had lunch. However, I didn’t realize that the average taco is small and ate way too little, so I got hungry and devoured most of a bag of Smartfood in the car. Oops.
Basically nothing has happened since Christmas. Grandma left without incident. We’ve all been ignoring everything in the big living room (where everything from Christmas is). Marcia gave us a cat treat advent calendar for the babies: Paris is already trying to steal from the others.
I don’t know how you feel about new years, so I’ll tell you how I feel about them. Technically nonexistent, technically happening every single second, and possibly melancholic for people like us with a more painless time we’re continuously floating away from. If you’re feeling sad, try to remember it’s not really real. January 1st only exists because we say so, and we will be happier someday.
With love,
Alice
