Happy December! It is officially Enforced Christmastime for the next month. It was already happening in the stores though. How are you doing? Is winter break soon? I still have a bit left, but I’ll be home for Christmas. I can’t wait to be on that planeeeeee.
Until then, I’ve gotten my final assignments for this term in, so I’m resting easier. I had a hectic week though — not as hectic as the kids who wait until the night before, but hectic. My personal ‘get things done’ strategy, if you need one, is to hole up in the school library with a stack of useful textbooks and don’t leave that spot for several hours. This way I have never actually checked out a book. Also foreign music helps because you have no clue what they’re saying and thus won’t get distracted. Also another tip: email academics asking for stuff. I just got sent an angelic bibliography from a Greek museum. Research is not a suffer-alone situation!
I saw Wicked 2 in theaters on Wednesday. A friend and I bought a bunch of candy for it. I liked it better than the first one. I very much enjoy the ritual of going to the movie theater. This one was kind of fancy: they had a Ben n Jerry’s ice cream section inside like a normal ice cream store. Also beforehand we went into a pet store and looked at guinea pigs and fish. I haven’t done that in centuries. I highly recommend it. Imagine if they set up a cat cafe in Eugene! If there was one here I’d be in there every single day. I miss my babies. Also, on the way back, I saw a fully running steam train on a normal railway and freaked out. Who knew they still had any of those outside of Disneyland??
Anyway. I love you. I can’t wait to be back home. Although flying back to SeaTac always freaks me out these days. At least they give you afternoon tea on the way back (seriously. I’m eating scones up there). I love you.
With love,
Alice
