Hey, Soren!

August 1, 2026 By admin

It’s the last day of July now. It went very quickly in my mind. I’ve finished the last of the Jane Austen novels I haven’t read — Mansfield Park and Sense and Sensibility — and read The Haunting of Hill House. All quite good. I think Mansfield Park is my favorite Austen book. I relate a lot to Fanny Price, especially where relationships with Mom are concerned.

Emily’s coming over tonight and tomorrow. She should be here in a few hours. Mom went to Idaho last week and got back on Saturday. Did not mention because I don’t want to broadcast being home alone to the wide internet. I had a nice time by myself. I find it peaceful.

Mom and Aaron have the sperm donation documentary playing on Vashon sometime in the next few weeks. I refuse to go despite Mom’s attempts, which have revived since Marcia and Emily are coming to Vashon to watch. Pray for me while I am distressed so. She never lets me say no. That’s why we went to France and Ireland, it’s why we went to Costa Rica, and it’s why I was on television all those years ago, and they were all miserable. I’m sick of not being allowed to say no. At least Emily understands.

I love you Soren. Work is well. I hope you are well. I always hope you are well.

With love,

Alice

Letters from Sister

How are you! I am tired today. I worked the past three days, then slept for twelve hours on complete accident. Had a vivid dream where I was Princess Diana in her big wedding dress and had a hard time moving around because of all the fabric. Grocery store is exhausting, but good news: they’ve…

How are you? I’ve had a decent week. I started back up at my grocery store job for the year. They’ve moved me to dishwashing in their deli. The sanitary conditions are abysmal compared to the dishwashing at camp. I feel complicit in a crime. The guy training me puts stuff back that’s still dirty…

Happy Fall! Guess what happened on Jeopardy last night? I took this for you because I got so excited lol. How’s it going down there in our small college town on the river? That sounds very Gilmore Girls when I say it, somehow. I’m doing alright. Kinda stressed. Looking at grad school programs. Apparently Europe…

It’s almost September now. Are you feeling nervous? If it’s any consolation, I’m nervous about returning to my grocery store job. Standing up all day hurt my hip, and I’m too young to complain about a hip problem. That said, I’ve taken to wearing a corset, and it’s done wonders for my back and somehow…
