Happy Friday! I wrote this on Thursday. Because I will be working and thus tired and nothing very interesting is likely to happen anyways. I usually do not work Fridays. However I am covering for a coworker.
Mom and Aaron went on a vacation for a couple weeks and just got back. Down to Aaron’s brother in California and back. Camping in San Simeon, Redwoods, Hearst Castle, Yosemite. Stopped in Eugene for a few hours. I asked if any big changes had happened like if old stores had closed or new ones opened but apparently not, since the last time we were there. I would like to visit again. It’s been so long. Mom said she was scared the whole time, but I think we ought to have nothing to be afraid of. That said I remember feeling the same way. How many people do you think have this experience with their hometown? Locally-famous criminals?
Anyway. Long work week over, now inside another one. I have only just finished “Monday” and yet am exhausted. I doodled something on some wax paper and one of my coworkers asked to keep it which was really sweet. As with most stressful winter times, I have started stress-playing Stardew Valley again. Even if the outside world is uncertain, my farm thrives.
I love you. I’m tired. I keep kind thoughts in my tired tired head, even if I am stupid in this state of mind. Send prayers and coffee, preferably coffee.
With love,
Alice
P. S. If I forget to post this on Friday, now you’ll be able to ascertain why. I’m sorry.
P. P. S. My new book right now is Hangsaman by Shirley Jackson. I like it a lot.
P. P. P. S. Addendum on Friday. I finished Hangsaman (don’t tell my boss, but in the Book Thief way of things, I think illicit reading to be an uncompromising good). I fear this book will follow me for a while. Read it if you’d like to read something truly strange.
