Happy June! The heatwave here has finally passed, thank god. Now it’s in the 60s and rainy again as England should be. On the last day of “good” (bad) weather, a friend and I went to Richmond and did some shopping. We got matching rings at a new-age jewelry store: I got one “gold” (flaking off lol) ring with labradorite and one silver with a garnet (to match the silver garnet locket with your picture back home). There was a cat there who watched us peruse:

I love him. Sweet boy. My poor friend is allergic. If I were her I wouldn’t have the restraint. I’d have died so long ago. Richmond is a pretty town. Touristy, but fun shops, and the river’s right there to walk along. We walked around an outdoor market and got sushi to hide from the sun. It was nice.
There was also a hangout event for the classics seniors and professors. We had our picture taken. It’s probably the last time I’ll see several classmates + professors. Very strange. We ran out of paper plates so I brought home two slices of lemon cake in cups. It was very funny. There is no AC in that building — like most British buildings — and good god, the professors are going to die. Like zoo critters in poorly-maintained habitats. Thank GOD America has universal AC. We don’t know how good we have it. They call it “aircon” because they’ve been conned by being born here.
That’s all that’s been really happening. I got a little spooked about the bubble tea place on campus because I un-taped the top corners of an “AI course” poster in there and the cashier asked why I did that. No actual reprimanding but I was scared someone would get mad at me. Well, nothing can stop me from trying to get bubble tea at the end of the day. Maybe next time I can just bring a pen and write “plagiarists” on it or something. People are always writing on signs here, especially in the bathrooms. I like to read people’s arguments.
Anyway, I suppose that’s all that’s up. Mom should be here by next week, and we have some tourism planned, so I will tell you all about that. I love you. Don’t take AI courses. Buy bubble tea instead.
With love,
Alice
